Anderson Leonardo, singer of Molejo, dies at the age of 51

Singer Anderson Leonardo, a member of the group Molejo, died at the age of 51 this Friday (26). The artist was battling inguinal cancer, in the groin area, and underwent a series of hospitalizations to treat the disease. He is survived by his wife, Paula Cardoso, and four children.

Anderson revealed the diagnosis in October 2022 and soon began treatment. In January 2023, the singer reported that he was cured after finishing treatment. As early as May, he reported that the disease had spread and reached his testicles, so he resumed treatment.

In August last year, the artist was hospitalized with pneumonia, needed intensive care and discovered a pulmonary embolism. He was hospitalized again in November due to pain and discomfort during cancer treatment.

Anderson Molejo’s Personal Life and Career

Anderson Leonardo was born in Rio de Janeiro on August 18, 1972. The singer was married to administrator Paula Cardoso, with whom he had four children, Leozinho Bradock, Alissa, Rafael Phelipe and Alice.

The artist gained prominence in the musical area during the 1980s, when he joined Molejo. Anderson worked for more than 35 years in the group, as a vocalist, playing the ukulele and composing tracks.

The pagode band achieved one of the first successes in one of the songs performed by the singer, “Caçamba”, in 1994. “Child’s Play”, “Dança da Broom”, “Cilada” and “Paparico” are among other famous songs of the group.

The last new album released by Molejo was “Molejo Club”, in 2016. The release came after the group made waves over a Lady Gaga release. Netizens claimed that the song “Perfect Illusion” was an English version of the track “Trap”. The American singer even mentioned Molejo to promote the album “Joanne”.
