Actress Ítala Nandi, the first woman to appear in frontal nude in Brazilian theater, dares once again to perform an scene at the age of 82. In Anna Muylaert’s new film, “The Business Women’s Club”, the artist appears alongside eight men to compose a sexual act.
At the Gramado Festival this Sunday (11), Ítala Nandi told the backstage of the invitation to the film.
“When we went to do the fuck scene, she [director] asked me: ‘have you ever done suruba?’ And I said: ‘no, I never did’. I even left Teatro Oficina because of the things that started to happen in this area”, he joked.
Ítala also recalled what she heard from the director of the feature when she was invited to perform the scene.
“You who were a liberator of women when you were young, nothing better than you, at this point in your life, to liberate women of your age group,” said the director to the 82-year-old actress.
At Oficina, Ítala Nandi made a mark by being the first woman to appear in frontal nude in a Brazilian theater, with the play “Na selva das cidades” (1969). The house was founded by the actress and playwright Zé Celso.
“Few 82-year-old women would agree to do this scene. It is a symbol. She is the oldest in the cast and the one who does the most daring scene. Women are desexualized from a certain age, they are no longer seen as a sexual body. And no one ceases to be a sexual being. It is part of my role as a female director to remember some things. We are not satisfied with this sexual ageism that is imposed on us,” said director Anna Muylaert in an interview with O Globo.
