Actress Julia Roberts, 56, and activist Martin Luther King Jr. (1929–1968) became a topic on social networks because of an unusual story involving the artist’s birth. That’s because King paid for Roberts’ delivery.

The parents of the artist, known for the films she starred in in the Hollywood film industry, were close friends of the activist and his wife, Coretta Scott. Due to the strong friendship they had with Julia’s parents, the couple paid the birth in which the actress was born.

“My parents had a drama school in Atlanta, and one day, Coretta Scott King called my mom to ask if her kids could be a part of the school because they were having a hard time finding a place that would accept the kids,” Roberts said in an interview with journalist Gayle King in 2022.

According to Roberts, the rapprochement was initiated because of his parents’ drama school and then the ‘favor’ was returned. When Julia was about to be born in October 1967, her parents were facing a financial crisis and had the support of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott to pay for the hospital where the birth took place.
