Presenter André Marques, 44, shared with his followers on social media that he has been smoke-free for two months, something he celebrates with visible enthusiasm. However, the artist points out that, without cigarettes, he gained 12 kilos. Thus, he will start a new fight against weight gain.

“A lot of people sent me messages asking if I took medication, which I did. In fact, I stopped at the face, the courage and the fright. I did some tests, the lung was already kind of with obvious signs of a smoker,” he said.

Faced with questions from fans, if he still felt like smoking, the presenter replied: u am not going to lie. Today I don’t feel like smoking so much. I remember smoking when I’m cooking, drinking. ‘Right now, I’d be smoking a cigarette,’ but I really know it was a better choice for me. I’m not taking medicine. I’m going for the claw.”

As a consequence, André reports that he gained a lot of weight in just two months. “These two months have given me good things and they have also given me bad things. They gave me 12 kilos more, I’m more anxious, but, as I’ve said here in other videos, obesity is a struggle I’ve had for many years.”

“It’s an eternal struggle until you rest: you against yourself. So, I quit smoking, which is very bad, I gained a little weight,” the presenter continued. Obesity is also bad, it also kills and now I’m going back to the fight against it. That’s it,” he added.

It is worth remembering that André Marques underwent bariatric surgery (stomach reduction) in 2013, losing almost 100 kilos with the process. In October 2023, 10 years after the surgery, he revealed his constant struggle with obesity.

“People commented ‘I noticed you got fat’ and I say I really got fat and joke. I joke that I can even warn myself because I’ve been there, at rock bottom. The bottom of the well has a spring. The spring depends on your willpower, your dedication, whether you seek help. We can’t romanticize obesity,” he explained.

“Obesity is one of the diseases that kills the most in the world every year. You don’t die from the word obesity, you die from diseases associated with obesity,” the artist warned.

“So don’t think it’s normal, ‘Oh, I’m chubby, but I’m healthy.’ I said that. I even had some nice exams when I was a little chubby, already morbidly obese even on the table. And then in two months my exams all changed and I was diabetic, with very high sugar,” he revealed.

“Look for a professional, do your exams because the most important thing we can have is our health, which is what will keep us here longer with the people we love,” he concluded.
