On Thursday night (9), the woman named as real-life Martha from Baby Reindeer gave the first interview after the success of the Netflix series.

After reveal her face, Fiona Harvey appeared to deny elements of the production and criticize Richard Gadd, creator of the plot. The Scot accused the comedian of being obsessed with her.

In an interview with Piers Morgan, she stated that she was forced to go public after the series premiered. “Internet sleuths tracked me down, stalked me, and made death threats to me. So it wasn’t really a choice,” he said.

Fiona stated that she did not watch the episodes, but defined the work as “obscene and defamatory fiction” and claimed that she intends to file a lawsuit.

The Scot detailed the meeting and “relationship” with Gadd saying she met him only “two or three times”, a figure that increased to “five, six times” by the end of the interview. “He seemed obsessed with me from that moment on. I should never have walked into that bar,” he said.

The presenter questioned the number of emails, voicemails and letters sent by her which, according to Richard, are about 41,000, 350 and 106, respectively. Fiona admitted to sending “a handful of playful emails”, “didn’t send more than 10 emails”.

She also stated that she was only in one comedy show of the author and denied contact with his parents and girlfriend. “I don’t think he had a girlfriend. I think he’s homosexual. But no, I never went to his house, nor did I attack any girlfriends or anything like that.”

It is worth remembering that Richard Gadd stressed that he took creative liberties in the series and some details were “slightly adjusted to create dramatic climaxes”.
