Singer Madonna promoted a mega concert last Saturday (6), when she performed for 1.6 million people in Rio de Janeiro. On Monday, the Em Off website revealed that part of the American’s fee was destined for Rio Grande do Sul, which is in a very serious state of destruction as a result of the heavy rains that hit the region last week.

Singer Madonna’s mega-concert has sparked several discussions on social media. This was because, while the North American company was promoting an off-season carnival in Rio de Janeiro, in the south of the country, specifically in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the worst climate catastrophe ever recorded was taking place.

Many netizens discussed about sponsoring the free event. It is worth noting that the show had R$ 20 million in funding from the municipal and state governments of Rio de Janeiro. The rest of the amount, which completes the R$ 60 million spent, was paid by the private sector.

In addition, the government of Rio and the city justified the contribution due to the economic movement that the show would promote for the region. The financial return was estimated at more than R$ 300 million for Rio de Janeiro.

Despite this, Madonna was the target of criticism along with the state government of Rio, under the command of Claudio Castro. However, according to the Em Off website, the singer allocated R$ 10 million from the fee to the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The donation was made privately, without her assuming or disclosing the authorship.
