The month of February presented a new situation in the zero km car market in the country. The leaders remain unchanged: Fiat Strada and Volkswagen Polo continue to be the best sellers in the country, but the compacts grew again in the month, according to data from the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave).
The Strada remained the best-selling light commercial on the market with 8,568 license plates, more than double that of the Volkswagen Saveiro (4,127). In total, the compact pick-up overtook the Polo by only 505 units, with the compact hatch registering 8,063 units.
The Polo itself increased sales from January to February by 585 units and overtook the Hyundai HB20, which is now fifth among cars.
Followed by the Fiat Argo, a pleasant surprise in the ranking, with 6,507 units sold. Compared to January, the hatch remained among the best sellers, however, compared to the end of 2023, the Argo jumped five positions in the plates issued table.
Sales of the compacts Fiat Mobi and Renault Kwid were very high. The Mobi registered 6,288 vehicles, while the French car was just behind, 242 units behind. These subcompacts, which are fighting for the position of the most affordable car in the country, benefited from exclusive conditions or promotions made by the manufacturers last month.
It is also worth noting the fall of the Chevrolet Onix Plus, from 10th position in January (3,559) to 14th (3,259), although the drop in the number of units registered was not so great.
The performance of the electric cars deserves to be highlighted. The darling of 2023, the BYD Dolphin, led the segment once again, with 1,807 units registered. However, the most registered car from BYD was the Hybrid SUV Song Plus, with 1,901 registrations. The duo overtook established names in the market such as Peugeot 208,
It’s worth highlighting the GWM Ora 03 with 588 license plates and the BYD Seal, with 455. The pair beat models such as Honda ZR-V (390), BMW X1 (384), Nissan Sentra (356) and Volkswagen Tiguan (279).
