The Federal Police (PF) investigation, which was the basis for the São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPSP) complaint against the influencer Renato Cariani for drug trafficking, suggests the possibility that the scheme used information from the current mayor of São Sebastião, Felipe Augusto (PSDB), to simulate deposits from the AstraZeneca laboratory destined for Anidrol, a company owned by the influencer.

According to the PF, the false transfers were the source of the detour of substances used to produce cocaine and crack. Cariani and four other partners became defendants in the São Paulo courts for association with drug trafficking, money laundering and drug trafficking last week. The MPSP says that 60 disguised transactions of chemical products were made for the production of around 15 tons of drugs for consumption.

The documents reveal that two deposits were made in the name of Felipe Augusto, the current mayor of São Sebastião in 2015 and 2016. At the time, he held the position of Planning Secretary in Caraguatatuba. The first deposit amounted to R$103,500 and the second to R$108,500, for shipments of 450kg of lidocaine.

AstraZeneca says that the current mayor of São Sebastião has never been a representative of the company. According to the PF, it is suspected that the criminals used Augusto’s CPF because he is a public person and has easy access to data.

In addition to the fitness influencer, Roseli Dorth, Fabio Spinola Mota, Andreia Domingues Ferreira and Rodrigo Gomes Pereira are the other people who have become defendants.

“A person or a group of people set up the internet domain astrazenecadobrasil.com.br internet domain as well as email accounts associated with that domain and, posing as employees of the company AstraZeneca do Brasil LTDA, purchased a large quantity of chemical products from the company Anidrol,” the Federal Police report.

Use of children’s names

WhatsApp messages included in the investigation that formed the basis of the MPSP complaint indicate that Cariani used “children’s names” to fraudulently acquire growth hormones.

The messages also imply that he had the support of “police friends” who could protect him from investigation.

The Federal Police suspect that the prescriptions sent by Cariani may have a purpose other than child hormone treatment, showing signs of forgery of these documents.

Shortly after being indicted by the PF in December, Renato Cariani posted videos on his social networks in which he denied any involvement in the crimes, attributing the accusations to third parties.
